Cél angol
The aim of the course is to make the students familiar with the basic concepts and tendencies of aesthetics and musical aesthetics.
Tartalom angol
The main topics of the course are the interpretability of particular works of art; the most general problems of the philosophical reflection on the arts in the main concepts of aesthetics e. g. masterpiece, creator, reception, experience, etc. The course focuses on the reflective environment of the aesthetical interpretation of works of art.
The second part of this offers an overview of discourses in aesthetics of music from the 17. to the 19. centuries. The course contains the following topics: Aesthetics of Baroque Music (Music and Rhetoric, Affect-representation); Aesthetics of Classicist Music (Körner’s Theory of Character Representation and Jupiter Symphony); Early Romantic (Idea of Absolute Music, Aesthetics of Symphony, Tieck, Wackenroder, Herder, Hoffmann); Debates in 19th Century Music Aesthetics (Hanslick: Formalism versus Programme Music, Boundaries of Music and Poetry, Art Without Object)
